National law firm TLT has appointed public law and regulatory specialist, Nicola Mead-Batten, as partner, joining the UK-wide regulatory team as part its strategic plans to expand this practice area.
Nicola joins from Capital Law Limited where she was a partner in the disputes team, heading its public law and regulatory practice. Nicola brings considerable experience in representing and advising public-sector regulatory bodies on some of the most complex and high-profile cases in the UK. She spent the first nine years of her career at Baker McKenzie undertaking a range of commercial disputes including public law, media, and regulatory matters, as well as contractual / tortious disputes, fraud, pensions litigation and LCIA/ICC arbitration.
Nicola has represented the British Medical Association and Gambling Commission in high profile, complex Judicial Reviews and has acted as a trusted adviser to the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland and UK Anti-Doping Agency.
Recognised as one of the top lawyers in her field, Nicola was recently ranked as a “Leading Individual” for litigation and public law by Legal 500 and ranked in Band 1 for administrative and public law (Wales).
At TLT Nicola will be working closely with the firm’s other public law teams supporting on public inquiries work, as well as with TLT’s data privacy and cybersecurity team led by Gareth Oldale. She will continue her work as a key adviser to regulatory bodies on governance, investigations, Judicial Review and associated challenges to regulators’ powers.
